On rolling ground we rack the panels to follow the grade instead of stepping them, which avoids the sawtooth top line and the gaps underneath that let dogs out. Posts are set in concrete below frost depth.

Gates get built to the opening once the posts have set, on hardware rated for the weight of the leaf. A gate that sags after one season is a hardware decision, not bad luck.
